Unterkunft: 10 Euro (8000 RWF)

Nahrungsmittel (Monatskarte für die Mensa): 27 Euro (21.000 RWF)

Unterrichtsmaterialien (Bücher,Kopien): 5 Euro (4000 RWF)

Täglicher Bedarf (Zahncreme, Kleidung etc.): 7 Euro (6000 RWF)

At the end of 2010 the Rwandan government abolished the hitherto existing scholarships for Rwandan students. Before Rwandan students were support by the equivalent of 35 Euro. Acutally, a Rwandan students needs about 50 Euro to cover his or her every day costs of studying and living. The costs comprise:

Accomodation: 10 Euro (8000 RWF)

Food (monthly ticket for mensa): 27 Euro (21.000 RWF)

Lecturing materials (copies, books): 5 Euro (4000 RWF)

Daily needs (tooth paste, cloths): 7 Euro (6000 RWF

The living standard of Rwandan students is comparatively modest: Usually 2 students share one bed, up to 4-6 bed are hosted in one room. The food in the mensa is simple: every day there is rice, beens and sometimes cabbage. To safe money many students don’t eat every day, but only every second or third day.

The abolishment of the state scholarships means the end of their studies for many students. Therefore the activities of the Rwanda Village Concep Project are also endangered. By organising partnerships we are trying to ensure that those students, who are commited for the Rwanda Village Concept Project, are able to proceed their studies.

By a partnership of 50 Euro / months you cover all daily costs of a Rwandan student, by a partnership of 35 Euro you maintain the status quo by substituting the former state scholarship.

Are you interested in having a partnership? School classes or organsation can assume partnerships as well. As a registered non-profit-organisation we are able to certificate donation receipts for your partnerships!

Personal notes:

I’m the 9th child in a family of 12 children. My parents are old, paysan farmers. They tried their best to pay for all of us the primary school, because of limited funds, they paid the secondary studies only for those who succeeded the national examination and went in public schools. Nowadays, I and my brother are doing the academic studies under the government’s loan. My three sisters are waiting for us to finish our studies and help them to continue. My parents, with a very low income, are paying the secondary studies to my two brothers. The big problem I have is that the bursary I usually received from SFAR (Student Financing Agency for Rwanda) is cancelled. This money was used to pay a hostel, food and school materials. Now, there is a high risk that I stop my studies this year.

Personal notes:

I am an orphan by father and mother, and live with my two brothers who are also students. Our parents left us without any other fortune that could help us survive. In fact, in the past three years of university I have been living on the Government loan (bursary) to pay for my living, accommodation and syllabuses (notes). Now that the government has stopped that loan (bursary), I don’t know how I will be able to finish my studies, but I hope to find someone to support me.

I am the eldest of the family of seven children and my parents are cultivators on small land, they do also low trade for getting food and school fees for my young brothers. Actually I am in the second year of general medicine in National University of Rwanda. In this university; I am the active member of RVCP in its program of HIV-AIDS and awareness. In addition to this fact, I have to study seven years; what my family can’t sustain unless my young brothers do not even attend the secondary school. As result I apply for financial support for the continuation of my university study after that the government has stopped all it was giving to us as loans for accommodations and food.

Dear, it is my pleasure to send my greetings to you in Jesus name

I got this opportunity to introduce myself and to make a good relationship with you. I am Victor MANIRAGUHA and I am doing medicine in Rwanda in third year. We are 9 children in my family without parents and all of us we are students but i have been sponsored by an Agency called SFAR (Students Financing Agency for Rwanda) for this moment I am no longer sponsored by this Agency because our government has a big crisis so for that, this Agency (SFAR) decided to stop the support for us and this is a big challenge for my life even for my studies.

In my family we have so many challenges we can’t solve those problems because we are students and we have no job some of us returned home other we want to finish this year and stop the studies because we don’t have another way to be supported by this agency, we still praying for miracles from the heaven. For finishing my medicine I remain with 4 years for being graduated so my way is still too long.

Dear this was a part of my testimony and I believe you are worried for me but God bless you, also may God be with me and my family.

The remaining one has just finished in this last year2011/2012 and is waiting for joining university too.we all study in secondary school under sponsorship of global fund and even the daily life in my family is categorically depending on support from CARITAS OF CATHLIC CHURCH because my mother does not move and we all study.we live in the countryside in the norh province. The only land we have is what we have a house in.

Actually I am in fourth year of general medicine in the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA(NUR) wherein I am the active member of RVCP in its progamm called INCOME GENERATION.Furthermore I am remaining three years in order to finish my studies. The big issue I have is that the bursary that I usually received from SFAR(Student Financing Agency for Rwanda) was cancelled insmuch as that our country is in financial crisis due to the fact that RWANDA was internationally cancelled for funds. That money,I used it to pay a hostel, restauration and sylabuses. Now i Can see that I am going to stop my studies. Therefore I am applying for financial support in order to continue my studies .

Thank you.

The big problem I have is that the bursary I usually received from SFAR (Student Financing Agency for Rwanda) is cancelled.
I am the child from the family of 8 children and I am the 6th of the family, we live with our mother only which is a great challenge to the family for living. In the whole family I am the only child who had the chance reach University level studies, the others didn’t even finish secondary school and my eldest didn’t join the university, now they are helping my mom to work in the land to find food. From my primary school I used to be bright pupil where I warded to join one of the best schools which was able to give the standard education, I joined that school because it was on government support. At university I was also awarded free scholarship but now I am no longer supported nowadays I am no longer have the bursary for my studies. One of my dreams is to see the village changing that’s why on my first day in university I joined the two led organization which are helping the community specifically the village people as some who is experience in the life there. I became a volunteer in Rwanda village concept project and in Rwanda pharmaceutical students’ association, for me it was good opportunity to help the community, but the hope is reducing slowly because it looks like it is not easy to finish my studies without support. If I have a chance I am thinking to change the community after my studies.

I am pleased to write to you inorder to tell you the obstacles that i am and have been facing during my learning period so that you can help me to complete my studies. In fact, i am the third child in a family of 8 children. My parents are cultivators on a small land in which the productivity from it does not permitting me and my brothers and sisters to study appropriately. i did the secondary studies on the aid i received from MINALOC(Minisrty of Local government). Actually i am in fourth year in General Medicine but i am afraid that i will not finsh the three remaining years because since the beginning of this academic year REB(RWANDA EDUCATION BOARD )is no longer offering me the living allowances. My parents are getting old so that they are not able to cover the above cut help from REB for these three remaining years. My two brothers and one sister have abondened their secondary studies in order to allow me to complete my studies using the little income from our parents waiting for me to finish and pay school fees for them once i have chance to get a job. I am an acting member of RVCP in HYGIENE AND SANITATION. I am waiting to hearing from you a favorable response to my request.

Dear, it is my great pleasure to send my greetings to you in Omnipotent name I would like to use this opportunity to introduce myself and to make a good relationship with you. I am MANIRABONA Emmanuel and I am doing medicine in Rwanda in fourth year. We are 12 children in my family and I am the fourth child our parents are old and never had any kind of job rather than cultivating the small land we have throughout their life, the insignificant income was used for surviving only. I am the first child who tried to reach the university level in the family and all my siblings are waiting me for support once I finish while the first three children never get the chance to attend the secondary school and do not have any income that can support me in my studies, during my secondary schools I have been sponsored by CARTAS OF CATHOLIC CHUIRCH because its support is only limited in secondary schools, when I came in the university I have been sponsored by an Agency called SFAR (Students Financing Agency for Rwanda) for this moment I am no longer sponsored by this Agency because our government has a big crisis so for that, this Agency (SFAR) decided to stop the support for us and this is a big challenge for my life even for my studies. In my family we have so many challenges we can’t solve those problems because we don’t have another way to be supported by this agency, we still praying for miracles from the heaven. For finishing my medicine I remain with 4 years for being graduated so my way is still too long. I came in the university in 2010 since when I started to be an active member of RVCP especially in its program of HIV-AIDS and awareness. Dear this was a part of my testimony and I believe you are worried for me but Almighty God bless you, also may God be with me and my family.
