I’m the 9th child in a family of 12 children. My parents are old, paysan farmers. They tried their best to pay for all of us the primary school, because of limited funds, they paid the secondary studies only for those who succeeded the national examination and went in public schools. Nowadays, I and my brother are doing the academic studies under the government’s loan. My three sisters are waiting for us to finish our studies and help them to continue. My parents, with a very low income, are paying the secondary studies to my two brothers. The big problem I have is that the bursary I usually received from SFAR (Student Financing Agency for Rwanda) is cancelled. This money was used to pay a hostel, food and school materials. Now, there is a high risk that I stop my studies this year.

I am a student in national University of Rwanda, Faculty of medicine, Department of pharmacy in the fourth year. I have done my secondary school at E.A.V Ntendezi. I was born in a poor familly of five children where I am the only one to attend school because of lack of funds. When I was in secondary school, my parents used to sell pieces of our land to find school fees for me and some materials. Both of my parents are cultivators and our small land is no longer productive.I was government sponsored, but now I am no longer sponsored by the government and I am unable to find funds for myself. The situation for me is appalling now. I am still at home while others have started the studies on 10th january,2011.

I am an orphan by father and mother, and live with my two brothers who are also students. Our parents left us without any other fortune that could help us survive. In fact, in the past three years of university I have been living on the Government loan (bursary) to pay for my living, accommodation and syllabuses (notes). Now that the government has stopped that loan (bursary), I don’t know how I will be able to finish my studies, but I hope to find someone to support me.

I’m living in a big poor family of twelve persons (7 sisters. 2 young brothers, father, mother and me). My father is 73 years old and my mother is 50. My five young sisters are students in primary school and other two abandoned the school due to the lack of money and they are now cultivators. My two young brothers are too young to go to school. The living condition of my family is difficult. The family relies on agriculture which is not enough to help a such big family due to the lack of the sufficient field to cultivate (the land of the family is below 100m2).

I am the eldest of the family of seven children and my parents are cultivators on small land, they do also low trade for getting food and school fees for my young brothers. Actually I am in the second year of general medicine in National University of Rwanda. In this university; I am the active member of RVCP in its program of HIV-AIDS and awareness. In addition to this fact, I have to study seven years; what my family can’t sustain unless my young brothers do not even attend the secondary school. As result I apply for financial support for the continuation of my university study after that the government has stopped all it was giving to us as loans for accommodations and food.

My names are Dominique Savio Mukunzi. I am a third boy in a family of 4 children, three boys and one girl. I was born on April 9th, 1984. My parents are alive and old. I belong to a poor family as my parents do not have jobs since the end of genocide. Also one of my old brothers is now in prison since 2003 and the whole family must take care of him. That’s why I even did my secondary school with the help of Italian benefactors as I was studying in minor seminar.
Thus, since the organization in charge of scholarship in Rwanda (SFAR) suspended me for getting the scholarship, I lost the hope of continuing my studies because life in Huye where I am studying at the National University of Rwanda is so hard to afford and expensive especially getting accommodation fees, money for restaurant, books, hygienic materials, clothes, etc. But I still have faith that with the help of God and different benefactors, I will complete my studies.
In everyday life, I like reading books and novels, listening musics especially traditional music and I am interesting in working in team as now I belong to a student organization called Rwanda Village Concept Project (RVCP) where I act as the head of HIV/AIDS Awareness program

I have done primary school at Ecole primaire de Mwezi,secondary school at Petit seminaire saint Aloys de cyangugu and university studies till now at the national university of Rwanda. I have volunteered in Rwanda Village Concept Project (RVCP) from 2006, the year I entered the university and am still involved in this project as well. My ambiton is to continue helping people in need mainly in public health domain after accomplishment my undergraduate studies.

Actually I am the general secretary of Rwanda Village Concept Program(RVCP). I was born in south province, Muhanga district , sector Kabacuzi, in village called SHORI. I am a member of six children and I am the oldest of them. My family is so much poor. My parents have not studied , they are agriculture. They are doing hard to feed the family by cultivating on small land that we hold. Since 2000 until 2006, when I was in secondary school, I had a local NGO which helped me to study by giving me school fees and from there they have stopped because it was the program of only secondary school. And by this time, I was sponsored by the government which is becoming to stop their sponsorship.

I am a student in national University of Rwanda, faculty of sciences. I was born in small village of Karenge sector , Rwamagana district, eastern province of Rwanda, I am fourth child in nine children, my family is among the poor families, because it lies on agriculture even if they have very small land, all my parents are above 65 years old they are not able to do hard for satisfying basic needs.

The firstborn in 6 children family, originated from the poor village in eastern province of Rwanda, my parents left me with 5 younger sisters in Rwanda, went to Uganda where they try finding at least 3 sisters’ school fees. Even if education was very poor in my village, I passed the national secondary school examination in mathematics-physics option with second place in our district. Now I’m the second university student from my village and a great competitive third year student in urban and regional planning at national university of Rwanda. I’m relations officer of RVCP in charge of taking care of International Participants

I was born in family of eight (8) children, where I ‘m the 7thchild. I’m orphan of both parents and I have been living with my uncle during the last two years. In secondary schools, I was supported by a volunteer who is not alive. After being informed about your announcement in R-VCP. I decide to write to you in order to help me if possible . I remind you that I am the active member of RVCP since 2009. After being rejected by SFAR during this academic year 2011, I was struggling mainly with these principal problems of the life such as: lack of restoration, accommodation, means for the notes…, especially I wonder what I am going to do since March 2011, because there is no belief of studding in this campus. Moreover; you know that the medical students in Doctorate I , are clerking from Monday to Friday in Hospital (CHUB); thus we cannot find any chance of doing any other businesses for instance: teaching in secondary schools, building the houses…, as well as do these of other departments. In addition, there is no money planed for the clerkship doctorate I. My family is unable to support me continuing the University because of its lowest level of economy. I am available anytime, for any suggestion or information and look forward to hearing from you.

My family is so poor because my father and mother are both illiterates, rely only on agriculture with a little land, also they do not breed. we live in difficult condition . To get what to eat, to wear is not easy. In secondary school, I got scholar fees from government. It is a reason why, it is difficult, even impossible to me to continue my study because I am not on the list that government (SFAR) will support.

I got this opportunity to introduce myself and to make a good relationship with you. I am Simon Pierre BIGIRIMANA and I am doing medicine in Rwanda in third year. We area 13 family children, 6 are siblings and other are our cousins orphans of genocide. Two of my sisters are married, the rest are students. I have been sponsored by an Agency called SFAR (Students Financing Agency for Rwanda) for this moment I am no longer sponsored by this Agency because our government has a big crisis so for that, this Agency (SFAR) decided to stop the support for us and this is a big challenge for my life even for my studies.
In addition of this big number of children in our family, know both of my parents are retired they have no longer sufficient ability to take care of all those problems. . For finishing my medicine I remain with 4 years for being graduated so my way is still too long.

I was starting my studies in Cyete primary school from 1994 and secondary studies in groupe scolaire Imena /APEEDUC from 2000 year, Now I am student in National university of Rwanda faculty of Economics and Management, department of management Business Administration’s option in third year . In fact, I have been living together with only one parent (Mum) since 1994 genocide when my Daddy died with my two brothers, now we remain as three children [me and two sisters who study in secondary school} with Mother who really is incapable to pay for us school fees. I was financed by SFAR [Student financing agency for Rwanda} but it does no long help me , reason why I’m not hopping to continue my studies. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

I’m VINCENT NDEBWANIMANA 26 years old male, medical students from National University, I was born in rural area where the health problems were critical including the family planning, unwanted pregnancies and hygiene promotion challenges plus limited income generation almost for all population, although above challenges , I’ve been able to study my secondary school and later I joined the Medical school and where you have to work hard to make it successful with much time in Hospital for practices. When I first joined the University , the Government supported me in terms of scholarship and living fees which currently have been cancelled from last year and my parents are supposed to care a lot about my 5 young sisters, among them one joined the secondary school. When I joined medical school at the same time, I found interesting volunteering students organization Rwanda Village Concept Project( RVCP: www.rwanda-vcp.org), where I become an active member from 2007,the organization vice coordinator in 2009,the organization coordinator in 20010 and currently organization advisor.
I would love the sponsorship to help me for living fees in the rest of my studies including hospital training.
